Day 18 - "P"

Like many people, my favourite Christmas flowers are poinsettias. I love their festive colours and their big, broad petals, which are fantastic to colour with just about any medium. In this case, I've brought out the coloured pencils with a hint of marker for the shadows.

YOUR TURN: Create a card or papercraft project using the letter "P" as your prompt.

INSPIRATION WORDS:
pudding, partridge, pears, presents, pine, pop-up cards, pyramid card, pocket card, pastels, purple, plum, paint, paper piecing, pleating, parchment, pearls, pencils, petals, photos, plaid

Every year, I try to find a blue poinsettia to remind me that 6 years ago right before Thanksgiving our first grandson was born 2 month premature with a lot of medical issues that couldn't be resolved. Alexander is never far from my thoughts. I think of him every day. That blue poinsettia was the only flower at his funeral. Every Christmas the only flower on our table is a blue poinsettia and Alex is with us every Christmas! Your card is lovely Beccy. The coloring is stunning, it just pops off the page. I may need to color a blue poinsettia and send that card to Alex's Mom and Dad. Thanks for the inspiration!

Beautiful card Beccy. I bought this set because of the beautiful cards that were mad with it and I have yet to make anything with it. Looks like I am slacking and I am going to have to get busy and make a card with this pretty set, Sarah W

Beautiful card, the poissens look alive. Would like to touch. Imagine that two years ago I got a poissensie from my friend and I still have it. What was my surprise how the flower in summer began to bloom.Hugs Danka.

This card is so pretty. I was reading the comments above and my heart goes out to Donna. I hope she finds many blue poinsettias this Christmas. I know if I see one, I'll be thinking of you and your grandson.

I love poinsettias and sometimes I buy one in this period, but I never succeeded to preserve it in the next year.
Beautiful image, very festive and optimistic.

Ohhhh, these poinsettias are just gorgeous!
I usually get a poinsettia plant each year for my dining room table. I love to find the fancy ones, with a different color, or the variegated ones. I don't have any luck in holding them over til the next year though. If the plant survives I can't get it to bloom again. Wish I had the knack of getting them to re-bloom!

So beautiful, Beccy! I love poinsettias too and I also love the variety of poinsettias that are available these days. Even so, I think the red is always my favourite!

PERFECT poinsettias Beccy!
LOVE your card, your colouring and design are BOLD and BEAUTIFUL!

... Grandma always had pots of poinsettias dotted around the house at Christmas, so it doesn't really feel like Christmas until we've got some in our house too :)

Poinsettias has been always my favorite flower for Christmas....I love the off white flower with just a touch of green at the tips of the flowers...I always add poinsettia on a card..
I've been nursing a poinsettia plant for two years now, the leaves a green right now can't wait for the red to bud out.

I used to really hate poinsettias, never really understood why to be honest but last year bought my first ever one and managed to make it last for over 2 months.

I love your big flowers, so easy to make lovely layered cards with such a nice clean image.

In reply to Donna I have never seen a blue poinsettia and it is lovely memory of such a sweet little angel taken too soon. I am sorry for your family's loss xxx
