White Lilies

There are a couple of ways to achieve beautiful white flowers on your cards. For this project, I stamped the image onto some gorgeous purple card stock with black ink, which is pretty much invisible once the image is coloured. Then I used white pencil to colour, remembering to apply more pressure to the lighter areas of the flowers where the highlights would normally occur. Shadows are formed by allowing the dark background colour to show through.

New Release: Lovely Lilies

Calla lilies come in a spectacular range of beautiful colours and have been a perennial favourite for weddings, funerals and other significant occasions. This new set features two lily images as well as a mix of sentiments for sympathy cards, wedding and anniversary cards, thank you's or just to let someone know you're thinking of them.

Carla and Anesha have created these beautiful cards using the images and sentiments from the new set.

Alcohol Inks

Alcohol ink is so named because the dye is suspended in an alcohol solution making it fast drying and suitable for various surfaces including non-porous items like glass. Generally speaking, alcohol ink is purchased in liquid form contained in small bottles or pens. It can be applied in a number of ways, including brushes, direct application, daubers or felt pads. What many people don’t realise is that it is quite easy to make your own alcohol ink at home with a couple of basic ingredients.

Here’s a recipe:
In a small, clean screw top jar, mix ½ cup of isopropyl alcohol to every two teaspoons of liquid Rit dye. Add more dye as necessary to create a deeper colour, but keep in mind that a little goes a long way. Shake well, making sure the two liquids combine properly before use. Apply using your favourite method.
