Wish

I've created another birthday card with the new Gnome Style set of stamps, this time in shades of red and green. The image has been cut out and popped up with foam tape to give the project a little more dimension.

Christmas Gnome

It's never too early to make a start on those Christmas cards, and Deanne has a great example of a cute card featuring Bjorn, one of the gnomes from the recently released Gnome Style set of stamps. Get a load of those fabulous buckles! Now that's some serious sparkle.

Everything Papercraft - Masking

Masking, in paper craft, is a technique used to either produce a negative image or to protect an area of your project from the application of further mediums such as paint or ink. Paper crafters are able to purchase premade masks in a variety of shapes. They are usually made of plastic or strong card and have a tacky adhesive that holds them in place during use. The mask is semi-adhered to the paper surface and then ink or paint is applied directly over the top. The areas of paper not covered by the mask will pick up the colour, while the paper beneath the mask does not, thus leaving a negative image on the page once the mask is lifted. There are several other ways to mask an image, including the application of a liquid mask or applying a layer of paper or tape over part of a stamp before adding the ink, and then removing the layer before stamping.

Cute Window Card

Kathy has created an adorable window card that perfectly frames Ebeneezer from the new Little Cuties set of digital stamps. She's added a wonderful country scene in the background and given him a warmly glowing candle created from a piece of yellow vellum. The image panel lifts up to reveal a second sentiment and a place to add a personal greeting.

Hot Tip Tuesday

Better Stamping II
Clear Surface
This is a super simple tip that will give instant results with next to no effort - clear your work surface before you stamp. Any items under the card stock you're planning to stamp on will have an effect on your stamped image, including paper. A clean and clear image depends on having a completely flat surface on which to imprint. Even minor lumps and bumps can prevent nice crisp images from being achieved, so keep your work area clear while you're creating.

Deanne's Little Cutie

Deanne has created this cute card by printing the coloured version of Jacques, one of the characters from the new Little Cuties set, and fussy cutting right up against the outline of the image. She attached him to a bright yellow card base with foam tape and then added a couple of different mediums to his eyes and to the flower he's holding.

Laugh Love Fun

This dapper gent is off to celebrate a birthday with someone special. I've coloured the image in blue, black and grey with some silver gels pen for his buckles and buttons. I also added a few spots of silver to the gift for a little more shine.

To keep things interesting, I'll be adding an additional optional element to the monthly challenges, and this month we have a bingo grid to play with. Select one line either horizontally, vertically or diagonally and create a project using the three elements in the line you chose. As always, keep in mind that the additional challenge is just an optional extra.
