Day 26 - Christmas Carols

Christmas carols are full of inspiration for images, sentiments and card-making ideas.  I've seen cards featuring the three kings, the baby Jesus asleep in a manger, mother Mary, Christmas trees and even a little drummer boy.  Have a look through your collection of stamps and images to see what carol inspired creation you can come up with.

New Release: Snow Angels

These cute little guys are great for quick and easy cards, and are particularly suited to clean and simple styles.  They are easy to fussy cut and can be layered for extra dimension.

Petra fussy cut around one of the snow angels, removing his

wings and halo for a fabulous traditional snowman.

AJ used lovely bright, non-traditional colours to created her fabulous card.

Anesha printed one of the snowmen at a larger size

to create this fun and modern Christmas card.

 

Anesha created her own fabulous background

paper using the snowflake image from the set.

 

Carla mounted this little angel in the

centre of a beautiful die cut snowflake.

Christine used lots of fabulous, bright colours on her

beautiful Christmas project.

Judy put together an awesome easel card using all three

snow angels... don't you just love the fluffy clouds?!

Karin has opted for a monochromatic colour scheme

for her gorgeous Christmas card.

Day 18 - Clean and Simple

CAS cards continue to be one of the most popular styles amongst card makers.  They generally have just one layer with a simple sentiment and small focal point with lots of clean, clear space.

I hope everyone is managing to build up their Christmas card stash now that we are only six weeks out from the big day.  The shops here in Australia are all decorated with festive lights, Christmas trees and pine needle swags and a couple of my friends have made a start on their Christmas cakes and puddings.  It won't be long now until I dust off the boxes of ornaments and start thinking about lunch menus and gift lists!

Eret designed this amazing step card using both

of the Angel images.

Vivien put together this wonderful, clean and simple design

using layers of matts behind the image.

I also kept to a simple design using clean

lines to frame the image and sentiment.

Christmas preparations are in full swing at my house, although I have yet to drag out the tree and decorations, I do have a healthy stash of hand-made cards ready to go.  I've really enjoyed making a few cards each month, it seems to keep Christmas close and I don't have to contend with that last minute scramble to make enough cards for all my lovely friends and family.

Nobody's Perfect

Both my daughters were in Christmas plays when they were little and both wore home-made or school-made costumes that involved safety pins and string, which sometimes made for some very funny and completely unscripted scenes!

The image I have for you today is dedicated to all the mothers out there who have pinned, stapled, stitched and glued costumes for their little people only to suffer (or chuckle) through dramatic on-stage wardrobe failures... I completely understand!

Viv made her beautiful card in lovely soft shades of pink and blue.

Janice created a wonderful Christmas card in gorgeous, non-traditional colours.

I put together a Christmas card using embossing and punched flowers and foliage.

Christening Angel

Vivien has been asking me to design a Christening image for quite a while now and this is what I've come up with.  I think the design would also work for a new arrival or even "Baby's First Christmas".

You can see that she kept the image beautifully soft when she coloured it and used plenty of crisp, clean white card with lots of texture to define the different areas.

Heaven Bound

These two little images are available as a set in my online store for just $4.00.  As you can see from all the different cards we created, they really are very versatile and can cover a variety of different occasions.  I originally designed them for use on sympathy cards for pet owners, but as we worked with the images we found that they were useful for all sorts of things.

Here's a hint for these images... add an extra line on either side of the mouth to make these little critters smile, which is what I did on my Christmas cards.

February Christmas Cards

I was very slack with my Christmas Cards last month and completely missed the January challenge over at Christmas Cards All Year Round.  To make up for my laziness I put together an even dozen of these white on white cards with this cute little snow angel image.  It's an old rubber stamp I've had tucked away for years and years... so long that I don't even remember where it came from!
