Robot Classic

The robot toys of my early childhood had wheels hidden under their feet, a metal bell contained somewhere in the chassis that would ding every now and again, and a strange whirring voice that repeated robot-y phrases. Very cheesy, but my younger brothers sure loved them!

All About The Colour

The last two cards I want to share with you this month feature lots of fabulous colour! The first card has a background inked with all the colours of the rainbow. My intention was to reflect the colours from the little robot's control panel, but I'm not sure I quite pulled it off... I do like the rainbow effect though.

My second card uses the classic combination of red, white and blue for a bold but fun look. I coloured and fussy cut the image before popping it up with a few pieces of foam tape.

Beep Beep!

Gears, cogs and steel sheets are all features of these fabulous cards from Carla. She has combined embossed and die cut elements with the robots from the new Nuts 'N' Bolts set of digital stamps to create fun cards that are sure to appeal to the mechanically minded amongst us. The frame on her second card was actually hand cut by Carla to fit two images, sentiments and embellishments.

A Great Day

I created the background for this card by dry embossing a piece of kraft cardstock with a folder I had coated with versamark ink. Silver embossing powder was then sprinkled over the design, clinging to the inked areas, which I set with a heat tool. For even more sparkle and shine, I coloured the robot with a silver metallic pen, then applied a liberal coating of glossy accents!

Kicking Up Dust!

Kathy has a wicked sense of humour and always entertains me with her descriptions and "stories" of the cards she makes. I want to share a little excerpt from the email she sent along with this card, it's a great description of how her creative brain works.
...at the last minute I came up with the idea of adding some cotton “exhaust” because anyone named Clang is sure to love churning up a bit of exhaust or dust when making a fast get-away, right?!

Pop over to Kathy's blog to see some of her other creations!

Easel Card

I figured that my hexagonal nesting dies would be the perfect choice for cutting my easel card since the shape resembles the head of a bolt. It was easy to place the cutting blade just over the edge of the fold to create the base card, and then layer it up with patterned papers and cardstock.

Happy Bot-Day

Jackie has coloured the little robots from the new Nuts 'N' Bolts set of digital stamps in pretty shades of blue, green and pink, and then coordinated them with fantastic industrial-looking die cuts. Multiple layers frame the different sections of her card perfectly.

New Release: Itty Bitty Botz Set

When it comes to gadgets and technology I'm rather the odd one out in my house.  I usually need help to operate the TV remote control or to figure out how to do anything technical with the computer, and if there's a need to hook up anything that takes more than one cord... well, I'm not the one you call.  Fortunately I have a gaggle of gadget savvy kids and a talented techie husband to save me from electronic meltdown.  Thanks guys, this one's for you!

August New Releases

Three new digital stamp sets have gone into the shop this month and are now available for purchase.  Each set comes with both black and white line drawings that you can colour yourself as well as full coloured versions of the images for quick card making or colour reference.  My wonderful designers have created a selection of fabulous cards and projects that I'll share with you during the month.

I designed this set with my son in mind.  He's ten years old and a gadget geek just like his Dad, which is great because these days I need help just figuring out the TV remote!

This is a follow on from last month's Cattitude Set.  We actually have a Dalmatian and a Labradoodle in our family so my inspiration was right here wagging their tales at me.

And something pretty to round out this month's collection.
