I wasn't thinking of any particular occasion while creating this card, but once it was all put together I realised it would be great for Valentine's Day. The various shades of pink and red, combined with the hearts and sweet sentiment are the perfect combination for a cute little Valentine.

I use markers on white card stock to get a perfect match when I don't have any card stock in the colour I need. It's a good idea to cut it to size first so you don't waste time and ink on areas that you're just going to cut away.

Day 19 - Easel Cards

If you haven't tried creating an easel card yet, now is your chance!  They are easy to make and look fabulous when opened and placed on display.  They come in all shapes and sizes - as you can see, mine is a circle - and can be as simple or intricate as you like.  Click HERE for a basic easel card tutorial.

Day 15 - Opposites

There are lots of different ways you can use opposites to make a pair of cards - embossing and debossing, positive and negative die cuts, curved lines and straight lines, opposite colour schemes, etc. etc. I decided to make two cards using all the same items, but in a different order. I was surprised by how much of a difference a simple change can make to the look of a card... which one do you prefer?

Tutorial - Circle Cards

Circle cards are fairly easy to construct, and the technique can be used for just about any shaped card that you wish to make.  The only thing you must remember is to leave a spine where the card can fold.  If you cut all the way through you will only end up with two pieces of cardboard!

1.  Use your favourite circle cutting tool to prepare the card base.  You will notice that the circle on the left has one flat side, which is the actual fold of the card.  The circle on the right is just a single piece of cardboard cut to the same size.  I will adhere the full circle to the front of the card so that it appears to be whole.

2.  Gather all the pieces you wish to use for your card.  I have the card blank, which forms the base of the card; the full circle you saw in the last photo, which I embossed with little dots; a red layer and a purple layer with a piece of ribbon threaded through it; and my coloured image.

3.  Simply layer your card as you wish, securing each piece of cardboard with double sided tape or glue.

4.  Add some extra embellishments if you wish, and your card is done!

Here's a simple little drawing that could be used for a variety of occasions.  I really like these sorts of images because you can colour them to the taste of the recipient or a particular theme.
