Day 22 - "T"

I'm going to use today's letter prompt to share a colouring tutorial with you.

YOUR TURN: Create a card using the letter "T" as your prompt.
Click the link below to add a photo of your creation to the challenge:

INSPIRATION WORDS:
Three Wise Men, twinkle, turkey, tidings, tinsel, toys, tree, trimmings, teal, turquoise, tutorial, techniques, tent card, tilt card, tri-fold card, two-fer cards

Products:

I want to show you how I colour a night time snow scene using markers and a white gel pen.

1. Print or stamp your snowman onto a piece of blending card, and colour with cool grey markers. (You can colour with pencils or paints if you prefer).

2. Use a pencil to lightly sketch two "hills" behind the snowman. I've drawn them both on angles for a little more interest.

3. Colour the first hill in four light shades of grey, keeping the lightest area around the snowman and the darker areas at the sides and bottom of the panel. This will help to create a "spotlight" effect.

4. Colour the second hill with the darkest shade you used on the first hill.

5. Add another three shades keeping the darkest area at the base of the hill, just above your first hill.

6. Now colour the sky with the three darkest shades you have - I used C8, C9, and C10.

7. Use white gel pen to add "snow" to the bottom of the snowman, completely covering the bottom line of the image. Add a little more to the top of the hill on either side.

8. Add some "snow" to the top and brim of his hat, his carrot nose and any areas that would naturally catch the snowflakes, such as the gift and tops of his hands.

9. Now completely fill the panel with dots of varying sizes. Remember to take them all the way to the edge and try not to make them too uniform in size or placement.

Winter Gate + timelapse

I started out with the intention of creating a monochromatic card, but as often happens, once the colouring was done I decided to transform the image into a night scene. You can see the process in the timelapse video below (the link will take you to my YouTube channel).

Here's a timelapse video of the image being coloured:

Warm Wishes

To add a frosty sparkle to my card, I added some Wink of Stella to the ground around the bunny's feet and a little splodge to his nose as well. Looks like it's time for him to head back to the lodge for a cup of hot chocolate!

For Someone Special

I haven't made a Joy Fold card in quite a while, so figured today was the day! I used some of the beautiful patterned paper by Maja Design, a wonderful collection of letter stamps that have an old printing press look, and one of the bunnies from my new "Snow Bunnies" digital stamp set. The big pink button, tied with twine, holds the front part of the card closed.

Designer Cards: Snow Bunnies

I've got some more cards to share with you today, also using the new "Snow Bunnies" set of digital stamps.

This beautiful centre step card was designed and constructed by Carla.
You can find the template for her design either on her blog or in the upcoming January newsletter.

Check out the awesome "fur" around this little guys cuffs and hat brim!
Petra's done a great job with the colours and textures on this card... the grey and blue work perfectly together.

Anesha has gone with some warmer shades of purple for her beautifully shaped card. The rhinestone snowflakes give it the perfect amount of sparkle.

New Release: Snow Bunnies

What could be cuter than a fluffy bunny all snuggled up in her winter woollies ready to brave the cool temperatures? Perfect for winter birthdays and seasonal well-wishes, this set could also be transformed into Christmas and holiday greetings.

Snow Bunnies Digital Stamp Set

AJ has chosen wonderful bright colours for her card, along with a fabulous watercolour background reminiscent of alpine ski slopes.

Judy's medium of choice was coloured pencils... and hasn't she done a great job matching the colours in the background paper?!

Karin used shades of red and green for her New Year's card,
giving it a definite holiday feel.

I'll have some more cards to share with you in the next few days, in the meantime, please visit my designer's blogs to see all the wonderful creations they've been working on... you're sure to find lots of great stuff to pique your interest!

Day 13 - Over the Edge

Don't let the four corners of your card hold you back... break through the barriers and let it all hang out! Take some of the elements of your card - the image, the sentiment, the embellishments - and push them beyond the edge. Secure them well!

YOUR TURN: Create a card that has elements that go over the edge.

New Release: New Friends Set

I've only ever built a couple of snowmen in my life and none of them have ever turned out like I expect.  They've all had funny lumps and bumps where they should be smooth (that's the story of my life too!), and sometimes they have sticks and grass poking out in strange places, and I won't even begin to talk about the lack of available carrot noses!  Thankfully it's a whole lot easier to draw the kinds of snowmen that I always imagine building.

New Release: Milton Catching Snowflakes

I don't know if there are many giraffes who have danced in snow... nor many who own more than one scarf... but Milton is a unique soul who enjoys nothing more than spending his winter days catching flakes and performing ballet moves.

Milton Catching Snowflakes

Here are the fabulous cards and projects that my talented designers have put together using the new Milton set.  Don't forget to stop by their blogs to see what else they've been up to... you can find links in the column on the right.
