Encore Set - Splish Splash

This month's old favourite is a silhouette set called "Splish Splash".
It's perfect for printing on patterned paper or hand coloured backgrounds, which are on trend at the moment with both card makers and scrapbookers. Check out the projects that Deanne and Kathy have created using this old favourite.

All Hallow's Eve

I had lots of fun creating this Halloween card, particularly the little bow that I've attached to the handle of the pumpkin pot. After securing it in place, I melted and charred it with a little flame to give it a spookier-look. I also attached a silver cat charm with a couple of jump rings so it can move freely when the card is opened and closed.

Everything Papercraft - Two-Step Stamping

As the name implies, this technique involves stamping twice to create one complete image. Firstly, stamp a large, bold stamp with a light colour, such as a solid flower stamp and allow it to dry. Next, ink a smaller, more detailed stamp in a darker colour and stamp over the first image to create a complete picture. There are several companies that produce two and even three-step stamp sets as well as inks in various tones that are perfect for this technique.

For a variation on the technique, you can use what you already have in your collection. Select a big, bold stamp and make the first impression on a piece of cardstock using a light-coloured ink. Now use a water-based marker to ink the stamp again, applying the colour to just a few parts of the image, such as along the edges of leaves or beneath flower petals. Now stamp over the first image for a complete picture. For best results, use a stamp positioner so that you are able to stamp in exactly the same position.

My Sunshine

Kathy created this adorable card with the joey image from the new One Fine Day set of digital stamps. She included a close up of her colouring, which was done using chalks on cardstock... isn't the texture fabulous?! The card also features a repurposed background. Those gorgeous sunflowers are actually part of a recipe card that Kathy stumbled across at her local charity shop. She added a little touch of white pen to really make them pop!

Just Because

"Just Because" cards are always handy to have in your stash. Perfect for sending messages of encouragement, to let someone know you're thinking of them or simply to say "hi". Deanne has created this super cute card using the little kangaroo from the new One Fine Day set of digital stamps.

Dear Friend

I've created a pink and pretty card using one of the pre-coloured digital stamps from the new One Fine Day set. After fussy cutting the kangaroo, I layered her on two die cut ovals with a piece of embossed cardstock in the background for texture. A simple organza bow finishes the card nicely.

Better Stamping III
Good Stamp Pads
Good stamp pads mean good, clear images that will last over time. Better quality stamp pads are generally constructed well, from materials that will last through repeated uses without fraying, tearing or crumbling. The ink maintains it's colour and clarity and will transfer nicely on your stamps, brushes and sponges. It's also important to keep your stamp pads adequately hydrated so that you don't end up with patchy imprints. When you purchase a new stamp pad, consider buying a re-inker at the same time. In the long run, it will save money, time and frustration.

Happy Halloween

This cute and colourful Halloween card was created by Kathy using the Frightful Fancies set of digital stamps. She has used lovely, bright colours for the image, changing the "berries" to little lights by adding a fabulous glow around each one. The colours are then mirrored in the background for a wonderful consistent design.

Tutorial - Upright Z-Fold Card

These cards are quick and easy to make and can be decorated in a variety of ways. It's simple to alter their size since there are just two folds, and there's plenty of space to add sentiments and embellishments.

1. Place a piece of card stock measuring 111/2" x 4" horizontally on your score board and score at 27/8" and again at 53/4". Fold along both score lines.

2. Trim a second piece of card stock to 5" x 31/2" and secure it in place on the bottom half of the card base so that there is 1/4" border at the bottom and both sides and a 1/2" at the top. See the photo below for correct placement.

3. You'll notice that the card does not stand open on its own, so you need to create a little tab that will hold the front and back piece together. I used a layered piece of card stock stamped with a sentiment and punched into a nice shape. Add some glue along the very top edge of the tab and glue to the back piece of card stock only. The front section should be able to slip under the tab so the card remains upright.

4. Embellish as desired.

Pumpkin Pot

Deanne has her Halloween preparations well under way, including the creation of this cute card featuring the pumpkin pot image from the new Frightful Fancies set of digital stamps. A touch of glitter and a spooky spider embellishment add to the festive feel.

Suspension Card

The little kangaroo from the One Fine Day set is perfect for creating a suspension (or spinner) card. I printed him twice, once in reverse, and then sandwiched a piece of dental floss between the two fussy cut images. For something a little different, I've threaded the floss through two small holes in the card rather than adhering it between layers of cardstock. Before I place the card in an envelope I'll turn the kangaroo around and around to wind the floss, then when the recipient opens the card the little kangaroo will spin!

DIGITAL PAPER

To keep things interesting, I'll be adding an additional optional element to the monthly challenges. This month it's a CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) yourself challenge. Find a card that you really enjoyed making, or perhaps one that didn't turn out quite as you would have liked, and recreate it with a few tweaks. As always, keep in mind that the additional challenge is just an optional extra.

PLEASE READ THE CONDITIONS CAREFULLY
BEFORE ENTERING THE CHALLENGE
  • Entries that don't meet the conditions will be deleted from the challenge.
  • Your project must be created during the month of September 2021 and entered into the challenge during the active challenge period. Due to an automated system, late entries cannot be accepted.
  • Each month I will include a re-mastered digital image from my library of freebies as well as a bonus challenge, such as a card sketch, bingo grid, etc. You DO NOT have to use the image or bonus challenge on your project, but you MUST use a Beccy's Place image, either free or purchased, to be eligible for entry.
  • You can enter as many times as you like and you can submit your card to any other challenge you wish.
  • At the end of the month three winners will be chosen to receive a $20.00AU store credit for any digital stamps at Beccy's Place. It is acceptable to create an account in the event that you win. Accounts can be closed at any time.)
  • Store credit won during any Beccy's Place challenge is only redeemable for digital stamps.
