Deanne has created an adorable monochrome card with the baby koala from the new Big Love set of digital images. She paired the fuzzy little fellow with a huge, polka dot bow for a really dramatic effect!

Monochromatic Reef
Last week it was all about colour... this week I'm sticking to a single hue for a much more refined look.
You can try this with whatever colours you have in your stash (remember that you can colour white card using inks or markers for a coordinated look). Don't forget to add neutral mediums such as glossy accents, stickles or Wink of Stella for a little bit of sparkle and shine.

Day 11 - "J"
My little blue jay is actually one of the cardinals from the Christmas cardinals digital set. By changing the colours and adding a few extra feathers I've been able to alter the image to look like a blue jay, which is very similar in body shape. To keep the monochromatic look, I coloured the berries in the same shades of blue and added some stippling to the background.
YOUR TURN: Create a card or papercraft project using the letter "J" as your prompt.

Day 15 - "M"
Today is "M" day and for me that means monochrome. I've used only black and white pencils on a piece of dark blue card stock to colour this Christmas bell. The sparkle is from a generous application of Wink of Stella... my favourite sparkly medium. "M" also means we're now halfway through the alphabet and halfway through our November Month of Holiday Cards Challenge. Can you believe it?!
YOUR TURN: Create a papercraft project using the letter "M" as your prompt.

Monochromatic
I use markers on white card stock to get a perfect match when I don't have any card stock in the colour I need. It's a good idea to cut it to size first so you don't waste time and ink on areas that you're just going to cut away.

Monochromatic
Right up until this morning, the skies have been a gorgeous expanse of bright blue for the beginning of spring. I thought a lovely blue, monochromatic card would be perfect to celebrate the warmer weather and bid a relieved adieu to winter.

Day 16 - Watercolours
Watercolours are one of my favourite painting mediums. These days there are so many different techniques and methods of application that most of us can find something we enjoy using.
I love to colour with distress markers, which allow me to control exactly where I place the colour. I've included a little step-by-step picture guide below.
YOUR TURN: Create a card using your favorite watercolour technique.

Scrap Card #9
My ninth scrap card is all about the colour blue! To create the floral centre, I stamped the image twice and coloured with distress markers and a water pen. I used a small pair of scissors and a craft knife to fussy cut around the flowers and leaves, then layered everything together with foam tape for a three dimensional look.

Day 13 - White with One
Technically this is a monochromatic card, meaning it uses one colour in various tones and shades with white at one end of the tonal spectrum and black at the other... but it's much more fun saying "white with one" because that's how I like my coffee!
YOUR TURN: Create a card using a "white with one" colour scheme.
You can choose any colour you like as well as black and white.

Orchids
My desk is still littered with distress markers, watercolour paper and brushes so I thought I'd take the opportunity to colour up these beautiful Orchids by Flourishes. I went for a monochromatic colour scheme, mostly so I could start using a book of beautiful co-ordinating blue papers I purchased last year. Unfortunately the papers were a much warmer blue than the marker I used so I had to put the paper back on the shelf again! Oh well, maybe next year?

Embrace Happiness
My lovely friend Penny gave me a gorgeous set of Flourishes stamps featuring blueberries and raspberries with some matching sentiments. I've already made several items with the set including this simple monochromatic card.
