Easter With Deanne

I must apologise to you all, and especially to Deanne,
for forgetting to post her fabulous Easter card last month.

As you can see, she has cleverly pieced the little scarf with the same paper that was used in the background of the card. By slightly offsetting the stripes and colours, it coordinates perfectly without getting lost. She also added some Glossy Accents to the bunny's glasses to give the impression of shiny glass lenses.
You can see more of Deanne's wonderful cards and papercraft projects by clicking the link below and heading over to her personal blog.

Kathy's Easter Creations

Kathy has a wonderful sense of humour that often shines through in her paper crafting, such as this first card she created. She said she was inspired by the quizzical look on the Easter Bunny's face and just had to create a little "story" to go along with it.

Kathy's second card features beautifully toned papers and colours to match the pussy willow sprig she created by adding brown flocking to the image. She finished the inside of the card with a sentiment, some matching paper and a pretty little embellishment.

Tutorial - Card in a Box

These little box cards are the ultimate in three dimensional card making! Perfect for special occasions that require a burst of excitement, such as holidays, birthdays and the arrival of new babies, they can stand open for a festive display. And, believe it or not, these little beauties can even fold flat for postage!

TEMPLATE:

1. You'll need one piece of card stock measuring 101/2" x 5" and two pieces of card stock measuring 31/2" x 11/4".

2. Place the large piece of card stock horizontally on your score board and score at 21/2", 5", 71/2" and 10". This should leave you with a 1/2" section at the end of the piece of card stock.

3. Turn the card stock so it's vertical on your scoreboard with the 1/2" section at the top of your scoreboard.

4. Score at 2", from the top of the card stock to the last score line. Refer to the images below and the template above for correct placement.

5. Place the card stock on your cutting board or trimmer so that it resembles the template above - the 2" high sections should be at the top, the 3" high sections should be at the bottom and the 1/2" section should be on the right hand side.
Make vertical cuts along each of the four vertical score lines from the top of the card stock to the score line. See the template above for correctly placement.

6. Remove the top section of the 1/2" section as shown below. The remaining 1/2" section will form the tab for your box card.

7. Fold along all the remaining score lines, taking care not to fold the first section of the card stock.

8. Place one of the 31/2" x 11/4" pieces of card stock horizontally on your score board and score at 1/2" and 3". Repeat with the second piece.

9. Fold along the score lines in opposite directions - one a mountain fold and one a valley fold. It doesn't matter which is which. Now you should have all the pieces for your card cut and folded and ready to assemble.

10. Apply double sided tape or glue to the 1/2" tab section on the box. Bring the card stock around and secure the tab to the inside to form the box.

11. Apply double sided tape to the opposite side of each end of the small pieces of card stock. (NOTE: it's best to use tape for this step as glue will go everywhere when you attempt to position the card stock pieces)

12. To position the pieces, remove the backing tape from one end, hold the fold closed so the adhesive doesn't stick before you're ready, then move the card stock into the correct position. You want it to be about 1/2" from the corner (the photo below shows the card stock in the centre of the box, but I actually moved it back toward the corner further so that the edge of the card stock almost touched the corner)

13. Remove the backing tape from the other end of the card stock. To make sure the card folds properly for postage, you need to carefully position the other end while squeezing the card closed as shown below. (If you're finding these steps a little tricky, you're not alone. This was the most difficult part of the card but it really doesn't matter if these pieces end up being a little crooked as they will be covered by embellishments).

14. Repeat the process for the second piece of card stock so that you have both pieces positioned inside the box as shown below.

15. Time to decorate! I used double matted patterned paper for each section of my box, including a long piece for the back section, which covers the tab we secured earlier.

16. Attach embellishments to the two small pieces of card stock in the centre of the box so that they protrude from the top. They can be glued directly onto the card stock, or you can add some strips of acetate to give a wonderful floating appearance.

17. If you've used glue, give the card plenty of time to dry before squeezing it closed or you may end up gluing the sides together. I clamped my acetate in place with bulldog clips until the glue dried completely.

18. To close, simply press the card flat on your desk. If you intend to send the card through the post, make sure your embellishments are all relatively flat.

New Release: Sweet Easter

With Easter just a few weeks away, it's well and truly time to make a start on all those wonderful holiday cards and projects.  Today's digital stamp set features two bunnies, a delicious stack of colourful eggs and five Easter-themed sentiments.  Like all Beccy's Place digital sets, this one comes with both black and white line drawings as well as full colour images for quick card making.

Sweet Easter Set

I'm so excited to release my very first set of digital papers!  There are ten different designs in the set - five patterned and five solids - that coordinate with the Sweet Easter Digital Stamp Set.  My super fabulous designers have been working with both the papers and the stamps to produce some wonderful projects to help inspire your Easter crafting.

Sweet Easter Digital Paper Set

Design Team Projects
Today's projects are full of gorgeous pastel colours that are perfect for Easter and spring.

Anesha created this fabulous Easter basket, lined with straw, and ready to be filled with lots of yummy chocolate eggs.  What child (or adult for that matter??) wouldn't appreciate such a lovely basket to hold their Easter goodies?

She also made a fabulous matching card using a couple of the digital papers and some dies.  This time, she coloured the bunny in a lovely light shade of grey.

Anesha's final project is this awesome scrapbook page featuring her adorable cat, Princess Skipper. Anesha printed the green patterned paper onto a large, textured piece of cardstock to get a great background for her project.  The digital papers are designed at 12" x 12" to ensure they are suitable for resizing in all sorts of paper crafts.

Carla created this fabulous Easter card using one of the rabbits from the digital stamp set, along with the Easter egg pattered paper.  She added some pretty yellow buttercups and a strip of green grass to give a wonderful spring-feel to her project.

Christine has made these two fabulous cards using all the different patterned papers from the Sweet Easter Digital Paper set.  She has die cut and layered mats beneath the images and also added lots of beautiful ephemera to add texture and interest. Christine always does such a wonderful job colouring the images, with fun, interesting and vibrant palette choices, I always look forward to opening her design emails!

Judy combined two of the images in the digital stamp set to create this fabulous card of one very over-worked Easter Bunny!  I had to chuckle when I first saw it... this is what I look like when I'm standing in my laundry among the piles of washing that have to be done each week.  I'm sure you can all relate!

These two wonderful tags were created by Karin.  She kept the colours soft and pretty by reducing the intensity of the black lines around the images.  You can do this at home by printing the line drawings in grayscale or by increasing the brightness of the image.

Petra has used the new Easter papers and stamps to create a card that could be used for a birthday or the arrival of a new baby... now that's getting the most out of your supplies!  She added some beautiful hand stitching to the top and bottom corners for a wonderful framing effect.  The sentiment flag finishes her project perfectly.

A.J. has taken us down the path of mixed media with today's project.  She created this fabulous card by printing and hand-colouring the rabbit image before scanning it back into the computer to use with four of the digital papers.  Fabulous!
