I used some pretty blue glitter card to add a little extra sparkle and shine to my Christmas card. I think it works nicely with the pop of bright red from the berries.

I'm filing this one under "lesson learned". The yellow poinsettia came out beautifully, but the idea to cut it in half and separate the two sides with a sentiment really didn't pay off. The gap is much too large stretching the image out of shape. I have a feeling this one will end up as two separate cards in the not too distant future.

Day 27 - "X"

I think "X" is the trickiest letter of the alphabet when trying to come up with a card idea, so feel free to be as creative as you like when interpreting the prompt. I've used a brand of cardstock called X-PressIt Blending card for my image, but I also think that if you hold your head just right and squint your eyes a little bit, the background could be mistaken for an X.  😉

I mentioned earlier in the month that I enjoy colouring the bells with different markers to simulate a variety of shiny metals. Today, I've opted for a vintage vibe by giving the bells a healthy layer of rust!

Ultramarine is a beautiful blue that works well for wintery scenes. I've used an ultramarine marker to colour my little snowman as well as the very back "hill" in my landscape. Happily, I also had some glittery cardstock in the same colour.

Day 21 - CASE Yourself

I've chosen to CASE one of the cards I made earlier in the month using a technique I really love, which is basically working on a black background. For today's card I've chosen a waratah image, which is one of Australia's native flowers, as opposed to the holly sprig I used a couple of weeks ago.

After colouring my poinsettias, I decided they needed a black background to really make them pop, which also proved to be a great contrast for the embossed gold sentiment.

No-line colouring is a fabulous technique that gives your finished image the appearance of being painted or coloured directly onto the surface. If you want to give it a go, I highly recommend choosing images without too much tiny detail that can easily get lost amongst the vibrant colours.

Kraft cardstock is a staple in my craft room. It looks fantastic with almost every other colour making it useful for most holidays and occasions... including Christmas! I particularly like how kraft contrasts with white, so snowmen and snowflakes seemed like the obvious choice for me today.

I used various sentiment stamps from the Inside-Out Christmas set, along with red, green and gold inks, to create a masculine-style holiday card. A few shiny rhinestones and some matching cardstock completed my card nicely.

Today's cards feature one of my favourite Christmas images, coloured a few different ways. I've added a little bit of shimmer to his nose and gum drop buttons, as well as some embossing to several of the image panels. I used two of the sentiments from the Inside-Out Christmas set to complete each gingerbread card.

I enjoy colouring the sleigh bells with different markers to indicate particular types of metal. Today's effort uses several of the red-tinged E colours from my collection of alcohol markers for a warm and rustic vibe. The sentiment is made up of three individual stamps, stacked together and embossed with white to help break up the background.
