Hip Hooray!

Karin has created this cute birthday card featuring one of the little hippos from the new Live Large digital stamp set. She coloured the image with pencils, matching the colours with her patterned papers for a cohesive look.

You can find more of Karin's work over on her blog:

Hot Tip Tuesday

When you're working with liquid mediums that are applied directly from the bottle or tube, it can be difficult to apply it to small areas, corners and narrow sections of an image. Instead of fiddling around with the bottle, simply add a drop over the area you want to cover then use a small stylus, piercing tool or toothpick to move the liquid medium around. It's a lot easier to drag it into the corners and tight spaces of a design.

Festive Hippo

I remember singing this song when I was a young child at primary school. It would be one of the favourites in the Christmas concert that we'd put on for our parents, and I seem to recall some actions that would go along with the chorus. I'm not sure if I could perform it now, nor do I think my family would be particularly thrilled about having to watch, but the memories are certainly pleasant.

Eat, Drink, Dance, Repeat

I think this would have to be my favourite image and sentiment from the Live Large set. Hesta looks so joyous dancing around in her little tutu flinging colourful confetti everywhere she goes. This is how we should all feel on special occasions, like birthdays, weddings, rainy days, sunny days, Tuesdays...

June Challenge

Create a card or paper-craft project using any Beccy's Place image, upload a photo of it to your blog or other hosted site, and submit a direct link below. The challenge runs from now until midnight on the 30th of June 2020 (AEST).

DIGITAL PAPER

To keep things interesting, I'll be adding an additional optional element to the monthly challenges. For June, we'll be playing a game of bingo! Just choose a line from the bingo grid - vertical, horizontal or diagonal - and create a card or papercraft project using the three items you selected. As always, keep in mind that the additional challenge is just an optional extra.

PLEASE READ THE CONDITIONS CAREFULLY
BEFORE ENTERING THE CHALLENGE

  • Entries that don't meet the conditions will be deleted from the challenge.
  • Your project must be created during the month of June 2020 and entered into the challenge during the active challenge period. Due to an automated system, late entries cannot be accepted.
  • Each month I will include a re-mastered digital image from my library of freebies as well as a bonus challenge, such as a card sketch, bingo grid, etc. You DO NOT have to use the image or bonus challenge on your project, but you MUST use a Beccy's Place image, either free or purchased, to be eligible for entry.
  • You can enter as many times as you like and you can submit your card to any other challenge you wish.
  • At the end of the month three winners will be chosen to receive a $20.00AU store credit for any digital stamps at Beccy's Place. To redeem the store credit, winners must have a Beccy's Place customer account. (Please note, you do not need an account to enter the challenge. It is acceptable to create an account in the event that you win. Accounts can be closed at any time.)
  • Store credit won during any Beccy's Place challenge is only redeemable for digital stamps.
  • Entries can be uploaded to the challenge from any hosted site including blogs, online galleries, Google photos, etc. If you do not have access to a hosted site, please feel free to email your photos to me and I will add them from the Beccy's Place Guest blog.
  • Beccy's Place designers may enter the monthly challenge but are not eligible to win prizes.

Birdsong

I created this quick and easy card by printing the digital image directly onto a piece of patterned paper. I resized the silhouette image first so that it would fit perfectly across my card front, then printed at a high quality so the ink would be lovely and dark.

Soft Ink Background

Judy created the beautiful soft background for her card by blending inks into the cardstock with a soft sponge. To recreate this effect, print your image on a sheet of smooth cardstock then apply water-based inks over the top, making small circles as you apply the colour.

Jackie's Collection

I have a fabulous collection of cards to share with you today, all created by the very talented Jackie Trinder. The first two feature the coloured version of the large image panel from the Birdsong set, and the second two feature the silhouette image. Jackie added coordinating card stock to each design as well as matching embellishments for a beautifully cohesive collection.
