Hip Hooray!

Karin has created this cute birthday card featuring one of the little hippos from the new Live Large digital stamp set. She coloured the image with pencils, matching the colours with her patterned papers for a cohesive look.

Festive Hippo

I remember singing this song when I was a young child at primary school. It would be one of the favourites in the Christmas concert that we'd put on for our parents, and I seem to recall some actions that would go along with the chorus. I'm not sure if I could perform it now, nor do I think my family would be particularly thrilled about having to watch, but the memories are certainly pleasant.

Eat, Drink, Dance, Repeat

I think this would have to be my favourite image and sentiment from the Live Large set. Hesta looks so joyous dancing around in her little tutu flinging colourful confetti everywhere she goes. This is how we should all feel on special occasions, like birthdays, weddings, rainy days, sunny days, Tuesdays...

Shallow Easel Card

Hesta is my favourite character from the Live Large digital stamp set. She looks so joyful dancing around with flowers in her hair and a sweet smile on her face, and her hands are positioned perfectly for holding items such as this garland of blooms. I created the garland by gluing tiny die cut flowers to either side of a piece of narrow gauge wire, which I then sandwiched between two back-to-back images of Hesta.

Let There Be Colour

Don't limit yourself to shades of grey when colouring these happy hippos, go for your favourite colours instead. Or better yet, choose the favourite colour of the person you're creating for!

Living Large with Jackie

The cuteness factor has been dialled right up with this adorable collection of cards created by the lovely Jackie Trinder. She has coloured each of the little hippos from the new Live Large set of digital stamps in neutral shades of grey, and then teamed them up with papers and embellishments in various colours.

Jackie has kindly shared two colour charts for anyone wanting to play along at home.

Extend Your Stamps

I've made posts about extending your stamps on several occasions, mostly because I enjoy personalising projects, but also because it's a great way to get more value out of the images you purchase.

The little hippos from the Live Large set are ideal for hand-drawn additions since they have plenty of open space on their bodies. I added a cute floral pattern to Helga using a water-based pen, which won't run or bleed when I colour over the top with alcohol markers.

You can get a similar effect by printing or stamping images onto patterned paper and cutting around them with a pair of small, sharp scissors.
