More is More

Sometimes you just want a little more, and one way to get it is to stamp an image several times and harvest parts to add to the original. In my example, I printed and coloured the flower from the Frog and Oleander set two additional times, fussy cut and added both to the original image. Although it's possible to do this technique with traditional stamps, digital stamps have a little more versatility in that they can be resized, skewed and flipped to prevent the flowers looking exactly the same.

Relax

It amused me to hang the dragonfly charm at the side of the little frog image... it looks like he has one eye on his friends and the other on a quick snack!

What's That Smell?!

I'm certain this guy was in the middle of a conversation when the delicious smell of cake wafted over to distract him. He really looks like he's been caught mid-discussion and has had to halt all other concerns to figure out which direction he needs to go. I'm pretty sure I've had this expression on my face once or twice too!

Scrap Card #17

This is another of the images that Mum and I coloured using distress inks.  We started out by embossing the stamped image in white, applying a liberal amount of water directly to the paper and then using a brush to add colour.  The white embossing keeps the image looking lovely and soft, but we had to be careful to add in plenty of dark and light contrasting areas so that portions of the image didn't get lost.

Frog and Oleander Card

My lovely friend Penny has been inspiring me to bring out my water-based mediums and some brushes and have a play with some of my stamps.  I love working with water colours - with just a few strokes of the brush you can achieve a seemingly endless variation of shade and vibrancy.  It's probably one of the most forgiving colouring mediums and a wonderful way to relax and allow the water and colour do the work for you.

A Couple of Cards

I used the images I coloured a couple of days ago to make two rather simple cards.  I was thinking about doing something more elaborate but didn't want to cover up too much of the image or distract from the colouring.

Distress Markers

Last year I purchased the whole set of Tim Holtz's distress markers with the intention of stamping up a whole rainbow of pretty images.  But for some reason I just couldn't get them to stamp as vibrantly as I wanted... probably something to do with the paper I was using.   Anyway, they kind of languished on the shelf for the next few months with the occasional trip to the craft table with very little success.
Over the weekend we got to talking about them in the Yahoo card group I'm a part of with people sharing their stories of varied success.  I decided to pull them back out and give them another go, this time with the intention of using them to colour a heat embossed image rather than using them to ink up a stamp...

... I don't know why but all of a sudden the markers and I just clicked and I am thrilled with the results!  I had so much fun that I decided to do the birdhouse as well, and tomorrow I'll be making them up into cards.

Green Frog

We have a lot of green tree frogs around our house that sing and croak all night long when it's raining.  Our kids love to find them sitting on the verandah posts or hiding in the garden, and even with a bunch of people gawking at them they're relaxed and calm.  They are so charming with their wide friendly smiles and gorgeous sparkling eyes.

OR

I used some glossy accents to give his eyes the right amount of sparkle.

Viv created this gorgeous card of the Frog Prince!

Annie used the image three times, altering the colours slightly.

Eret flipped the image to create her card.

My Big News!!!

I am so excited to announce that some of my designs have been made into rubber stamps!  I was contacted late last year by the lovely ladies from Sparkle N Sprinkle to ask if I would be interested in working with them to produce a line of stamps... well, of course I said YES!! and now they are ready and available for purchase.

This set is called "Shabby Chic Birdhouse" and it measures approximately 5" x 5".  You can purchase it as a sheet of rubber only stamps for $13.99 or for an extra $4.50 you can have it mounted on foam for use with an acrylic block.

This set is called "Just Froggy" and it also measures approximately 5" x 5".  It is the same price as the "Shabby Chic Birdhouse" set and comes with the same mounting options.
