Colouring Project - day one

I have some small, white photo frames that I've been storing in one of my cupboards for several years waiting for just the right project to come along. Well, the day has finally arrived! I've chosen four of my favourite floral digital stamps to colour and mount in the frames. I think they'll look great all hung together as a floral collection... plus I'll have the added advantage of spending some quality time colouring them all in!

I'm starting with one of the iris images from the Iris Garden set. I forgot to take a photo before starting the colouring... just a little too keen for my own good!

Negative Colouring Cards

I finally took some photos of the cards I created with the images I coloured last week (click HERE for a link to the post).  I really enjoyed the negative colouring technique and am hoping to experiment with a few other base colours for a different look... and hopefully something that's a little easier to coordinate with!

Negative Colouring

I've been in the mood for colouring lately, but didn't really feel like going through the motions of choosing colours and making sure I had coordinating papers to create cards, etc. etc.  To get my fix, I opted for some negative colouring instead, which is where you colour the highlights in the image rather than the shadows.  I have a little tutorial HERE if anyone is interested in having a go.

EDIT:  The images in this post are digitals, printed on dark brown cardstock with black ink and then coloured over with white pencils.  You could use any colour cardstock as long as there is enough contrast between the colour you choose and your white pencil.

A close up of the poppies.  As you can see, I printed these in two sizes for a bit of variation.  It was a lot easier colouring the larger image because I had more room to work with, but on the down side there was a lot more colouring to do!

After colouring the images, I sprayed them with a light coat of matt sealant to prevent the soft white pencil from smudging.  I'm hoping to use them on some cards during the week.

Scrap Card #16

My Mum and I recently spent an evening playing with water colour inks, and then challenged each other to make cards out of the images we coloured.  Mum got all four of the challenge cards made but I only managed to do three, which sadly meant that I had to concede defeat.

Scrap Card #12

For today's card, I printed the coloured version of the blue iris digital image, fussy cut around it and adhered it to the front of my scrap background with foam tape.  To bring out the colour of my printer ink I added a coat of glossy accents, which also gave it a lovely shine.

New Release: Iris Garden

I love seeing irises blooming in the garden.  It always surprises me how such a magnificent, colourful flower can bloom from a rather ordinary looking plant... but I think the contrast is what I love most about them.

February New Releases

This month I have three new digital sets going in to my online store.  The first, called Iris Garden, features beautiful iris flowers that bloom in a gorgeous array of colours.  The next two sets, titled Wild About You and Valentine Stanley, are specifically designed for Valentine's Day, although they would be useful for other occasions too.
