Floating By

I used lots of lovely, bright papers to create this card, ensuring I used some of the same colours on the image itself, which helps to bring everything together. I also added thin, black frames to make the vibrant colours pop even more!

Colourful Creations

Don't you just love the bright colours Judy has used on these swim rings?! I particularly like the red and blue one she's given the grumpy guy floating around while on vacation. She has added a fantastic cloud filled sky complete with a bright shining sun, and gentle waves that are sure to rock a smile back on the old fella's face.

A Fun Collection

Anesha has used all three images from the Floating By set of stamps to create a fun collection of cards that would be ideal for summer birthdays, vacation notes or just to send someone a smile. Her bright colour palettes and cute die cut embellishments add even more cheer to these projects. Don't forget to head over to her personal blog for even more inspiration!

Let It All Hang Out

I won't mention where the inspiration for this fellow came from, but let's just say that the belly squeeze is a well-known phenomenon in my family!

Let's Go!

I wanted to get a sense of movement in this card, as though the characters are actually floating from one side to the other, bobbing along with the current. Stamping the first image slightly off the edge and then adding extra "waves" to the right-hand side of all the characters gives that directionality and sense of movement. I coloured everything first and then used both white and black pens to add in the additional lines.

Kathy's Old Geezer

Kathy always writes entertaining descriptions for her cards and projects, and this month she has kindly allowed me to use her own words to describe this fabulous card! Enjoy.

I had a box of decorated card fronts and envelopes in my stash and this one reminded me of an ebbing ocean scene. So I made it into that! I used just the front of the card, cutting it at the fold, and tearing it along the lower “foamy ocean edge.” I also tore fluffy clouds from scraps of white cardstock, and adhered them onto cloudy sky patterned paper to create the horizon. A little work with a light grey marker and my trusty white gel pen adds ripples to the water around the old geezer! (Oh, and I colored his nose with white and pale aqua to make is looks like he is wearing “Blue Lizard” sunscreen… in honor of all my Australian friends!)
