I love how wonderful holly looks against a black background. The combination of red, green, black and white is so striking and makes a fabulous Christmas card. I've added a quick tutorial at the bottom of this post for anyone who'd like to have a go at creating a similar card.
YOUR TURN: Create a card or papercraft project using the letter "H" as your prompt.
Click the link below to add a photo of your creation to the challenge:
INSPIRATION WORDS:
holly, ho ho ho, happy, holiday, Heaven, hot chocolate, hope, handbag card, heat embossing, herringbone technique, honeycomb paper, hexagons, hot glue, heliotrope, harvest gold, hookers green, hunters green
Digital Stamps:
1. Print two of the holly images, one smaller than the other and mirrored so that it doesn't look too repetitive, then colour with your choice of medium.
2. Colour around the images with a black marker, then use a pair of small, sharp scissors to fussy cut.
3. Decide how you would like to arrange the holly stems on your card. I layered the larger one over the top of the small one. As you can see, some of the top image covers one of the leaves and some berries, which I cut off and set aside.
4. Create a card base with half a piece of red, A4 cardstock, scored and folded. Add a piece of gold card to the centre front and a piece of black card over the top. Once you're happy with the position of the holly, secure the smaller piece to the card base with glue.
5. For a little extra dimension, add some foam tape or chipboard to the back of the large holly and secure to the card front, leaving a little of the stem hanging over the top of the card. Trim the excess away with scissors.
6. Add a sentiment on a piece of white cardstock, framed with gold, then secure the leaf and berries you removed in step 3. I added them over the top of the sentiment flag, but you can put them where you think they look best.
7. Apply a liberal coat (or two) of Crystal Lacquer, Glossy Accents, Kindy Glitz or Wink of Stella to each of the holly berries.

Such a beautiful card! I love the contrast between the red of de holly and the black background. Thank you very much for the tutorial. It is a very interesting technique to color around the holly with black.
Congrats!
What a nice card and a wonderful tutorial. I am going to have to try this and see if mine will come out like yours.
You have made a very creative card Beccy, the berries look real and the text fits perfectly 🤩
The card is beautiful, but the tutorial is so clever.
I love the idea of using the black marker around the shapes and cut them
afterwards in the fussy style! I'll explore the method!
Thank you Beccy for the tip!
So Beautiful and thank you so much for the tutorial.
Greetings Joke
Those really pop Beccy! I love how you've laid them over the sentiment too ~ just stunning! ~ Pam
Thanks so much for the tutorial! This is gorgeous against the black.
Beautiful and a great tutorial. When I'm having more free time I surely must give it a try, but it will be hard to colour as well as you.

Stunning card Beccy. Until I looked at your tutorial, I was convinced that you had tucked the sentiment under the lower part of the stem of berries. How the eyes can deceive.
The birds want to eat these berries immediately. I love the card with the black and golden background. Thank you for sharing the colours and tutorial.
xx Caroline

GORGEOUS card Beccy!
The holly and berries look bold and beautiful with the black background - WOW - it's SO CLEVER colouring around the edges to give them a black outline before fussy cutting - THANK YOU for sharing :)
Hi Beccy, it always amazes me when simply adding a black layer to a card makes it stand out so much better. Thank you for the inspiration, I'll be back over the weekend... Megan
