These cute little dimensional birds were also from the packet my Mum-in-law sent me for my birthday. They are so cute and work well with the scrap backgrounds I've been using because they are also made up of different colours and patterns.

Tutorial - Triple Easel Cards
Easel cards are wonderful display cards that are relatively easy to assemble. They are quite popular amongst card makers and there seems to be more and more variation as paper artists explore the possibilities of these great cards. Today I'm going to show you my take on a simple triple easel card.
1. Start with a piece of cardstock measuring 10" x 7". Lay it lengthways (landscape orientation) on your scoreboard and score at 5" and 71/2". Make mountain folds along each score line to create your basic easel card base.
2. Open your card and lay it flat on a cutting mat. You are going to make two cuts on the front of your card to create three sections, as shown below. The cuts start from the spine of the card and end at the opposite edge.
Measure and mark 11/2" from the left hand edge for the first cut. Measure and mark 11/2" from the right hand edge for the second cut. You should end up with two outside sections measuring 11/2" x 5" and a centre section measuring 4" x 5". Refer to the picture below.
3. Cut two pieces of cardstock measuring 11/2" x 5" and one piece measuring 4" x 5". These panels will be secured to the card base and will form the front of your finished easel card.
4. Decorate the panels as desired. I used some patterned paper, die cuts, pearls, ribbon and a sentiment stamp. Don't forget to add some decoration to the inside of the card, which will be visible when the card is standing open.
5. Secure the panels to the front of the card, adding adhesive only to the bottom sections. If you have never made an easel card before, click here for some basic assembly instructions.
6. Now you need to add some little embellishments to hold the card panels open for display. I used little oval die cuts secured to the inside of the card with foam tape. Since I wanted to make the three panels obvious when the card was open, I staggered the ovals so that the centre panel stands up further than the two outer ones.

New Release: Botanicals Set
This set is based on the beautiful Russian style Zhostovo painting that is popular amongst folk artists. Traditionally, the flowers are painted in many layers on a black or dark background, which makes the colours very rich and vibrant.

Scrap Card #20
It certainly feels like I've reached another milestone today with 20 scrap cards now under my belt! This is definitely the most successful I've ever been with a New Year's Resolution... it has helped to have all the backgrounds out on my desk, in full view, and taking up space that I could be using for my cuppa. That's definitely incentive to keep going!

Scrap Card #19
This month all my scrap card backgrounds will be blue, since I seem to have an abundance of them. Fortunately for me, blue is one of those wonderful colours that is easy to use and works well with lots of other colours, designs and images.
For todays card I've used a gorgeous Flourishes stamp and Prismacolor pencils.
The sentiment is from Sparkle N Sprinkle.
