New Release: Geranium Set

I love geraniums, they always make me think of gorgeous white washed buildings and seaside villages, balmy summer days and dazzling sunshine.  In the right climate they are easy to grow, even for me!  Plus they come in a huge variety of gorgeous, vivid colours making them the perfect flower for paper crafting - you can match them to whatever paper you want to use!  What more can a card maker want?!

"Hazelbank"

My card making table has been overtaken with drawing implements for the past couple of weeks and nary a card has touched my fingertips!  I've been working on a pen and ink drawing that will be auctioned this weekend as part of our little Village's 150th birthday.  It depicts an old blacksmith's shed that was built in the late 19th century and serviced our local area.  I had a wonderful time working on this piece, it's been such a long time since I sat down and did a "serious" piece of art.

Cupcakes!

My little fella turned 10 just over a week ago, so I hit the kitchen for the traditional cupcake cooking frenzy for his classmates.  I heard about baking cakes inside ice-cream cones ages ago and ever since then I've wanted to give them a go.  They were so easy to make and turned out great!  The kids at school loved them (probably because of all the sugar!) and there was no rubbish for the teacher to worry about later.

If you want to make them, don't fill the cones too high with cake batter as they seem to overflow easily.  Cook them as soon as you fill them or the cones will go soggy.  I decorated the tops with a marshmallow (for height), vanilla frosting (for ice-cream), a finger of Kit Kat and a Jaffa (for the cherry).

Owls Freebie

I have another free image to share with you today, this time it's a pair of owls cuddling up on a tree branch with the full moon in the background.  I printed it onto some brown cardstock and then coloured the image with nice soft pencils.  The dark background worked as the shadow and I simply added the highlights in graduated shades.
