Masculine Card

The Book Lovers set of digital stamps has a number of mix and match images that allow you to build up a little scene. I've used one of the book stacks plus the cup and old-fashioned glasses for this card, which I intend to give to one of my brothers for his birthday.

A Day with Deanne

Deanne is taking us to the lake today, with three fabulous cards she created using the new Lakeside set of digital stamps. For her first card, she merged the pre-coloured fishing boat with one of the sentiments and printed the entire topper ready to use. The coarse twine and little chipboard anchor really add to the nautical flavour of the design.

The set also includes three little rowboats - one on it's own and the other two in a single image. They are designed to be the same size so that you can use all three together if you prefer.

Deanne has created a set of two cards using the two images separately, and she has shared a handy colouring guide for both projects so you can follow along at home!

A Little Bit Different

I'm a big fan of doodling... if there's a pen nearby and I'm engaged in something that doesn't require my hands, like talking on the phone, then you can be pretty sure that I'll be drawing something. Not too long ago, I happened to be on a long service call with plenty of paper and pens nearby. It wasn't long until I had doodled a little picture with some cross-hatching in the shadowy areas. Naturally, my next thought was to wonder how the technique would look on a card...

I was going for a "workbook vibe", imagining all sorts of notes and slips of paper bundled onto a clip board with paint chips and laminate samples. Not sure I completely pulled it off, but it sure was fun to try something different!

I started by stamping the large image from Blooming Tools onto my paper with blue ink to match the pen, then added all the cross hatching.

For the Boys...

Today I want to share a couple of masculine themed cards I made using the Smooth Seas clear stamp set and some fabulous papers from Maja Designs.

By The Sea

One of my brothers loves the sea. I think he should have been a commercial fisherman or a pilot on a large ship or any other job that puts him in the vicinity of the ocean. Even though he doesn't really enjoy recreational swimming, he loves everything else about the water, particularly fishing and boating. I had him firmly in mind when designing the Smooth Seas clear stamp set, which means, like it or not, he'll be receiving lots of cards with a beach theme!

Road Trip Set

My husband and I have taken many road trips with our kids.  To us, they are the best type of family holiday because you get to go on a real life adventure with spectacular and unexpected sites, wild animal encounters (hopefully nothing with teeth!), interesting people, new food experiences and plenty of time to simply be together away from all the usual distractions.
This set is dedicated to all the wanderers out there.  Happy travels!

Buttons and String

We were challenged to make a card for our Dads last week, which of course, means something masculine, so I dragged out my button box and a roll of string and started to play.  The card below is what I finally ended up with.  Next time I think I might pay a little more attention to keeping the strings straight and evenly spaced... do you think Dad will notice??

Still Stamping...

The other day I posted a little tutorial about creating depth with stamps and since then I have been going through my collection of images to see what will work and what won't.  As you can see, I found a wonderful variety of butterflies, which I stamped in pinks and greens, as well as a single fish image that I stamped multiple times in a couple of colours to give the impression of a large shoal swimming by.

Elephant

Continuing with our Safari theme, today I have this lovely old elephant with a great quote on aging.  Perfect for birthday and masculine cards or use the image separately on a variety of other projects.
