Woven Easter Baskets

Baskets and quilts are two of my favourite home decorating items and ironically, two items that I am unable to make for myself. Anyway, while I was having a cuppa, a sit down and a good old think one day I realised that I might just be able to recreate a basket out of cardboard. Now, I won't tell you how many sheets of cardstock I ruined but I did eventually end up creating some baskets.

I have put together a tutorial for creating these little goodies, but it is very long and heavy on the photos. I decided to cut it into three parts to make it easier to follow and upload, and will post them for you over the course of three days. Hopefully you'll be able to put together some baskets of your own just in time for Easter.

Hoppy Easter Card

Awwww... I just love this little guy, he's so whimsical looking and I think he would be great on cards for new babies as well as Easter. You could further embellish him with a ribbon on his head and some pen-drawn eyelashes and he would be a she... you could even call her Lola.

Easter Bunny Card

Some of you might remember this handsome fellow from last year - it's the Easter Bunny himself! I've coloured him with much brighter colours this time around and mounted him on some eye-damagingly bright cardstock for an Easter surprise that no teacher will be able to forget! The "enjoy" sentiment at the bottom of the card is an old Heidi Swapp stamp that I heat embossed in white.

Mop Hat Cat

Believe it or not, this little kitty actually started out as a teddy bear! After I'd drawn most of her I thought that she was decidedly more cat-like and would only need some stripes and a tail to complete the picture. Now, I fully realise that cats are highly unlikely to eat apples, but I'm also quite sure that if told they don't, then they would more than likely start. Isn't that the nature of a cat?

Over The Garden Gate

This is a design I drew while we were holidaying in the U.S. at the end of last year. I was inspired by the gorgeous, yet brooding city of Savannah, Georgia... one of my favourite places in the world. I love to stay in the Historic District where the buildings are haunted and some of the streets are cobbled with ballast that's hundreds of years old! We lunched with pirates and ate dinner amongst ghosts, walked through streets where the civil war had been a reality and visited cemeteries where relatives actually picnic with their long lost ancestors!

Three In A Row

This is another challenge card from my lovely group of cardmaking friends over at Card Camp. And yes, I fully realise that I'm in the midst of a mid-life cupcake crisis, but I think I explained my situation quite fully yesterday. However, if anyone is thinking of organising an intervention to save me from this terrible addiction, please bring chocolate.

P.S. When I said "mid-life" I actually meant somewhere closer to one third... on a good day I may even pass as a quarter.

Frothy Cupcake

Yes, it's another cupcake... but I do have a very good reason. You see, during the months of March and April my family celebrates at least one birthday every week, sometimes two, and in one case we even have two on the same day! Then we have a couple more in May just to gradually bring us all down off the birthday cake high. Needless to say, that's a lot of birthday cards requiring a lot of different birthday images and, well, who among us can resist cake? Not I dear friends, not I...
