I used these candy canes last year for my "C" post, but wanted to have another go to really make them "pop". Although I've coloured them with the same no-line technique, this time I actually coloured the top candy cane and the ribbon as separate pieces, fussy cut each of them and layered them over the base. It helps to get a beautifully defined look.
YOUR TURN: Create a card or papercraft project using the letter "C" as your prompt.

ReplyDeleteBeccy, this card is beautiful. I love to put candy canes on my tree every year and also tape them to the gifts that I give out. Love your coloring, Sarah W
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card!! The no line coloring is a skill - TFS
ReplyDeleteYour candy canes with the curling ribbon look good enough to eat. I can almost taste the crunch and peppermint taste! Yum---yes I like candy canes!
ReplyDeleteBeccy you can really see the definition in the top candy cane. Great idea to cut that out separate and layer on top. Your colouring really helps to give shine and dimension to the image.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely especially with the gold mirror paper. Good enough to eat :)!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Beccy. The black and gold behind the image really makes it pop. I'll "C" what I can come up with for this letter!

Your card is just lovely! Wonderful colours and a great technique.
ReplyDeleteYou are tempting with so many yummy images! The last one which I got a couple of days ago, that one with the hot chocolate, brought me back to wonderful winter evenings in my childhood back home in Norway.
Thank you!
So excited to see the challenge "month of holiday cards" is back on ! This will give us heeps of inspiration for our Christmas cards ! Yeah! GinaX
ReplyDeleteI love the gold framing and backdrop piece. It really sets off the red and green and screams "It's Christmas time!" I've always wanted to hang candy canes on my Christmas tree but having 3 kids who would have swiped them as soon as they were added, and now the twins who would do the same thing, I don't think they would last very long. LOL! Gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteI know the letter of the day is "C" but all I can think of is "D" for DELIGHTFUL ... LOVE EVERYTHING about your card Beccy, it's an ELEGANT STUNNER!
ReplyDeleteBeccy thank you for your comment on my day 3 card. You mention it was a bon bon but it is actually a Christmas Cracker. I am not sure if you have those in Australia?
ReplyDeleteBasically when you have your Christmas meal it is traditional to pull a cracker with other people at the table. It usually has a rubbish joke, a paper hat and a toy or trinket inside. It has a special snap so when you pull one end and someone else pulls the other there is a spark and a gentle bang.
Hi Mandy. Yes we have the Christmas crackers here, but we call them bonbons. It sounds as though it's exactly the same product too, rubbish joke and all! It really wouldn't be Christmas without everyone sitting around the lunch table with a goofy hat, a plastic toy and a "Dad joke" to tell.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Beccy
What a lovely Candy Cane card...I love the different colors on them.
ReplyDeleteyour layout is perfectly done.....TFS
Beccy, thank you so much for the information about bon bons. Love how we get to learn many things from all over the world on this challenge.
ReplyDeleteBon Bons in the UK is an old word for a sweet only really used these days for a particular chewy sweet that is covered with powdered sugar.
I have read the Wikipedia entry on Christmas Crackers and the inventor of them did actually start off making bon bons and based the shape on the wrapped confectionery. Who knew? The entry is her if you are interested in reading more.
