Day 25 - Extend Your Stamps (Tutorial)

You don't always need to rush out to buy brand new seasonal stamps when, with just a few lines, you can turn your regular stamps into cute Christmas images.  This is one of those instances where practice really does make perfect, so stamp or print out a bunch of images, make yourself a cuppa and settle in for an afternoon of creativity!


YOUR TURN: Extend some of your non-Christmas stamps to create a holiday project.

I started by printing and colouring several cats.  As you can see, they are not at all holiday themed, but I'm going to change that with a few well placed lines.  I'll let all the pictures speak for themselves, but if you have any questions, feel free to post them in the comment section. 

























Now that you've added all the pen work, it's time to add some colour and mediums to finish transforming your images.  I used Liquid Pearls and some markers to decorate the little wreaths, bauble and string of lights that I added.



And now I have some fabulous Christmas cats to add to my cards!

    How clever you are to fill them with Holiday Cheer :)
    I haven't used Liquid Pearls before, added them to my list. Also, I was wondering how you cut out each of these cuties, did you fussy cut or use an electronic cutting machine?

      Hi Tracy. I fussy cut around the images. I find it easiest to use a craft knife to cut away any inside pieces first, such as the gap between the tail and the body, then cut around the image with small, sharp scissors.

    Oh you are a wonderful artist and you make it look so easy...but I know better for myself...I mess up stick figures!! I love changing a product and making it work for something else. Love the orneriness of your kitties! Love all of the cards.
    P.S. - if you decided to turn your ornery Christmas cats you made into a digital stamp I think that would be AWESOME!!!

She keeps going back to her old hunting grounds, about 1 km away from here. But this time she's not responding when we go there and call her...

    Eeeeeek! I LOVE these! This is such a clever idea! I'm not very artistic so I don't know if I could actually pull it off myself but these kitties are sooooooooo cute! My favourite is the one with the bauble on his tail! The other one that caught my eye is the kitty caught up in the lights! The way you coloured the lights looks amazing - they look like they are glowing! Awesome job with these!
