Even though I've lived all my life in Australia where Christmas falls in the summertime and we more often than not end up with a hot day followed by a storm in the afternoon, I still follow many traditional European customs. We roast a turkey with all the trimmings for lunch, decorate our house with snowmen and fur clad Santas, and send cards that are decorated with frozen forests, glistening winter scenery and snow. And why? Because in my family, it's tradition!

Love the style of this and red pop of gems makes it pop
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to hear that you follow many Traditional European customs at Christmas despite your weather being the complete opposite to ours.
ReplyDeleteYour card is stunning, I love the wreath with the gorgeous red gems and wonderful ribbon.

I like your Christmas "music".

My mum was born in New Zealand, and they used to have Christmas on the beach!
ReplyDeleteBut since the family moved back to Scotland it's been pretty much exactly as you described above, only Christmas dinner is in the evening, not at lunch. Boxing day is a big lunch with all the leftovers (and all the family that couldn't make it for Christmas dinner usually appears then!)
I LOVE your Christmas wreath. Just gorgeous.
Beautiful Christmas card Beccy.
ReplyDeleteI love the metallic cardstock on this! Gorgeous wreath! It would be so different to have Christmas in the summer - I think I would love it because I don't like snow at all!
ReplyDeleteI love how the colours of the wreath really pop against the music background. I am in New Zealand so we are summer here too but still go with all the traditional hot meal and winter themed decorations!
ReplyDeleteLove your traditional card Beccy, I love them too. Being in South Africa, we are much like you, with hot days and we have our traditional meal on Christmas eve..the European style. Christmas day is much more relaxed, spending the day with family and friends...of course eating far too much. Love all the Traditional things that go with a Northern Hemisphere Christmas. Ursula xx
ReplyDeleteThose 'berries' really pop out. Your wonderful design makes me think that Christmas really is just around the corner
ReplyDeleteFab wreath Beccy - when I was small I always wanted snow at Christmas. Christmas Days were spent with my Gran and the entire family - she cooked scrummy dinner and we stuffed our faces crammed round a small and food overloaded table! There was always money inside the Christmas Pud and I was not beyond poking my spoon into everyone's dishes to try and find the silver sixpence! x
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful card with the lovely selfmade wreath.
ReplyDeleteHow you make the bows Beccy, they are always so beautiful.
