Day 24 - Emboss till you Drop!

There are two types of embossing - dry embossing and heat embossing.  Dry embossing can be done in a variety of ways, the most popular being the use of embossing folders and pressure to press a design into the cardstock.  Heat embossing generally involves the application of a powder that is heated until it melts leaving a polymer coating on the paper.

The card I made today uses both types of embossing.  Firstly, I dry embossed my piece of card with the Christmas words and snowman, then swiped a Versamark pad over the card laying down the ink on the raised portion of the design.  I added the embossing powder, heated the card and voila! my double embossing was done.

YOUR TURN: Emboss something!

  1. Such a fun card Beccy! And such a great idea to highlight the embossed design by heat embossing it too ... another technique for me to try.

  4. What a coincidence... I made a card with both types of embossing earlier today. I'd link it, but unfortunately it's not a Christmas card.
I absolutely adore this one though! What a fab embossing folder! I've only got two so far, and probably won't buy any "specific" ones until I've built up a stock of generic ones first, but I have to admit I think the one you used is brilliant. x

  6. Lovely card Beccy. I will have to try the double embossing. Unfortunately I cannot load any cards as my computer blew up on Friday before I finished Friday's card. I came down to my daughter's today so I could send some messages. I hope I can get it fixed so I can load my cards before the end of the week. I was working on my computer inserting some digis to use on my cards and I hear the rumble of thunder a long way away. Just before I finished there was a loud bang and my computer crashed. Now it won't start. My husband can't understand it as he had put in a power board with a surge protector. Everything else is okay just the computer won't turn on, so I won't be able to go on the internet again until it is fixed. Thankfully I have already put some of my design team cards on my blog and scheduled them for future dates.
    Have a good week.

    1. I'm sorry to hear about your computer GranMargaret, what a pain in the bum! We're quite a ways north of you and we've just had a bad storm too... hail as big as golf balls and it's still rumbling outside. No damage thankfully. In the last week we've had hail 5 times so I think it's going to be a spectacular summer!
I hope you get your computer sorted out without too much expense!
      Cheers,
      Beccy

  9. Thanks for a great idea! And what do you know? It seems I am not the only one who had not thought of this technique. By the way, Beccy, thank you for all of your comments - it is great that you take the time to make each one a personal one.

  10. Lovely card Beccy. Love how you have combined the dry and heat embossing. I'm currently enjoying my holidays in th Sydney area, so no chance of getting crafty. But at least I can still have a peek at some cards and blogs every once in a while.
